The Main Attraction is a love triangle set against the
picturesque background of a travelling Italian circus. Eddie(Pat
Boone) is an American drifter who stumbles into a relationship with
Gina(Mai Zetterling), a possessive older woman who is a ventriloquist
in the circus. Joining the circus as a troubador, what really catches
his eye is innocent young Italian circus dancer and acrobat, Tessa
(Nancy Kwan). Hidden jealous tempers soon flare. Because of her
forbidden love, Tessa flees the circus, followed by Eddie, on the run
from the law. The film features a nice romantic song "Amore, Baciami"
sung by Pat, and colorful scenes of both the circus and the Italian
Alps. There are fine supporting roles by Yvonne Mitchell, as Tessa's
sister, and Kieron Moore, as her sister's husband. Besides delivering
a good dramatic performance, Nancy Kwan demonstrates her both her
dance skills and her talent as an equestrienne. This film was the
first of several where Nancy Kwan had a non-Asian role.
